Mahīnā≈ payo'si varcodā'asi varco me dehi. Vṛtrasyāsi kanīnakaścakṣurdā'asi cakṣurme dehi.
You are moisture of the earth, bestower of splendour; grant me thy splendour. You are the eye of Vṛtra, the keen-eyed one—give me thy eye.

O gods, come hither to our left at the altar. O gods, be the blessings, the ritual priests; we invoke you with oblations.

Svāhā yaj¤a≈ manasaḥ svāhororantarikṣāt. svāhā dyāvāpṛthivībhyāṃ svūāhā vātādārabhe svāhā.
Svāhā to the sacrifice of the mind; svāhā from the horizon of the dawn. Svāhā to heaven and earth, svūāhā borne by the wind—svāhā.

Åkū u tyai prayuje'gnaye svāhā medhāyai manase'gnaye svāhā dīkṣāyai tapase'gnaye svāhā sarasvatyai puṣṇe'gnaye svāhā. Åpo devīrbṛhatīrviśva-śambhuvo dyāvāpṛthivī' uro' antarikṣa. Bṛhaspataye haviṣā vidhema svāhā.
May it be offered to Agni for skill, svāhā; to Agni for intellect, svāhā; to Agni for initiation, svāhā; to Agni for austerity, svāhā; to Sarasvatī, to Puṣan, svāhā. Waters are goddesses, broad, world-beneficent; heaven and earth, the mid-air. To Bṛhaspati we offer the oblation with svāhā.

र्क्सामयोः शिल्पे स्थस्ते वामारभे ते मा पातमास्य यज्ञस्योदृचः। शर्मासि शर्म मे यच्छ नमस्तेऽ अस्तु मा मा हिंसीः।
Rksāmayoḥ śilpe sthaste vāmārabhe te mā pātamāsya yaj¤asyodṛcaḥ. ›armāsi śarma me yaccha namaste' astu mā mā hiṃsīḥ.
Standing in the realm of Ṛk and Sāman, you begin on the left; may the upward course of the sacrifice not let you fall. You are my refuge—receive my refuge; salutations, do not harm me.

ङुर्गस्याङ्गिरस्यूउर्णमृअदाऽ ऊउर्जम मयि धेहि। सोमस्य नीविरसि विष्णोः शर्मासि शर्म यजमानस्येन्द्रस्य योनिरसि सुसस्याः कृषीस्कृधि। ऊच्छ्रयस्व वनस्पतऽ ऊउर्ध्वो मा पाह्यंहसऽआस्य यज्ञस्योदृचः।
ªUrgasyāΔgirasyūurṇamṛadā' ūurjam mayi dhehi. Somasya nīvirasi viṣṇoḥ śarmāsi śarma yajamānasyendrasya yonirasi susasyāḥ kṛṣīskṛdhi. ūcchrayasva vanaspata' ūurdhvo mā pāhyaṃhasa'āsya yaj¤asyodṛcaḥ.
O Angiras, grant heat and vigor to the ritual; put strength into me. For Soma you are the draught, for Viṣṇu the refuge; be the refuge of the sacrificer, the source of progeny and flourishing crops. Rise up, O lord of plants; be exalted—do not repel the upward course of this sacrifice.

व्रतम कृणुताग्निर्ब्रह्माग्निर्यज्ञो वनस्पतिर्यज्ञियः। दैवीम धियम मनामहे सुमृडीकामभिष्टये वर्चोधाम यज्ञवाहसं सुतीर्था नोऽअसद्वशे। ये देवा मनोजाता मनोयुजो दक्षक्रतवस्ते नोऽवन्तु ते नः पान्तु तेभ्यः स्वाहा।
Vratam kṛṇutāgnirbrahmāgniryaj¤o vanaspatiryaj¤iyaḥ. Daivīm dhiyam manāmahe sumṛŒīkāmabhiṣṭaye varcodhām yaj¤avāhasaṃ sutīrthā no'asadvaśe. Ye devā manojātā manoyujo dakṣakratavaste no'vantu te naḥ pāntu tebhyaḥ svāhā.
Let Agni perform the vow; Agni the Brahmanic, the sacrifice, the lord of plants, the sacrificer. We invoke the divine intellect for the wished blessings, the high splendour, the vehicle of the sacrifice, the good ford—may they be present for us. May the gods born of the mind, the mind-born, uniting with mind and dexterous rites, come to us and protect us; to them, svāhā.

श्वात्राः पीता भवत यूउयमापोऽ अस्माकमन्तरुदरे सुशेवाः। ताऽ अस्मभ्यमयक्ष्माऽ अनमीवाऽ अनागसः स्वदन्तु देवीरमृताऽ ऋतावृधः।
›vātrāḥ pītā bhavata yūuyamāpo' asmākamantarudare suśevāḥ. Tā' asmabhyamayakṣmā' anamīvā' anāgasaḥ svadantu devīramṛtā' ṛtāvṛdhaḥ.
May the rivers be filled; you who are waters, be in our inner belly and serve well. May those goddesses, who are without disease, without fault and unending, grant us the divine immortals and prospering seasons.

ईयम ते यज्ञिया तनूउरपो मुञ्चामि न प्रजाम। अ म्होमुचः स्वाहाकृताः पृथिवीमाविशत पृथिव्या सम्भव।
īyam te yaj¤iyā tanūurapo mu¤cāmi na prajām. A ` mhomucaḥ svāhākṛtāḥ pṛthivīmāviśata pṛthivyā sambhava.
This body of yours, O sacrificer, I release to you; I do not cast off progeny. Lo, they released the oblations “svāhā” and entered the earth — from earth you arose.

आग्ने त्वं सु जागृहि वयं सुमन्दिषीमहि। रक्षा णोऽ अप्रयुच्छन प्रबुधे नः पुनस्कृधि।
āgne tvaṃ su jāgṛhi vayaṃ sumandiṣīmahi. Rakṣā ṇo' aprayucchan prabudhe naḥ punaskṛdhi.
O Agni, awaken well; may we be kindly inclined. Do not withdraw our protections; arouse and renew us.

पुनर्मनः पुनरायुर्मऽ आगन पुनः प्राणः पुनरात्मा मऽ आगन पुनश्चक्षुः पुणः श्रोत्रं मऽ आगन। वैश्वनरोऽ अदब्धस्तनूउपाऽ अग्निर्नः पातु दुरितादवद्यात।
Punarmanaḥ punarāyurma' āgan punaḥ prāṇaḥ punarātmā ma' āgan punaścakṣuḥ puṇaḥ śrotra≈ ma' āgan. Vaiśvanaro' adabdhastanūupā' agnirnaḥ pātu duritādavadyāt.
Again bring mind, again bring life, again bring breath, again bring soul, again bring eye, again bring ear to me. O all-pervading Fire, unbroken in body, may Agni protect us from harm.

एषा ते शुक्र तनूउरेतद्वर्चस्तया सम्भव भ्राजंगच्छ। जूउरसि धृता मनसा जुष्टा विष्णवे।
Eṣā te śukra tanūuretadvarcastayā sambhava bhrāja≈gaccha. Jūurasi dhṛtā manasā juṣṭā viṣṇave.
This brightness of yours is the luminous body; by that power be born and shine. You have borne strength by mind and are pleased with Viṣṇu.

तस्यास्ते सत्यसवसः प्रसवे तन्वो यन्त्रमशीय स्वाहा। शुक्रमसि चन्द्रमस्यमृतमसि वैश्वदेवमसि।
Tasyāste satyasavasaḥ prasave tanvo yantramaśīya svāhā. ›ukramasi candramasyamṛtamasi vaiśvadevamasi.
Of that (one) are the rays, of that the true forms: let your body take the instrument in birth, svāhā. You are the auspicious, you are the moon, you are the immortal; you are Vaiśvadeva.

चिदसि मनासि धीरसि दक्षिणासि क्षत्रियासि यज्ञियास्यदितिरस्युभयतः शीर्ष्णी। सा नः सुप्राची सुप्रतीच्येधि मित्रस्त्वा पदि बध्नीतां पूउषाऽध्वनस्पात्विन्द्रायाढ्यक्षाय।
Cidasi manāsi dhīrasi dakṣiṇāsi kṣatriyāsi yaj¤iyāsyaditirasyubhayataḥ śīrṣṇī. Sā naḥ suprācī supratīcyedhi mitrastvā padi badhnītā≈ pūuṣā'dhvanaspātvindrāyāŒhyakṣāya.
You are consciousness, mindful, steadfast, rightward, warrior, sacrificer, mother of both — the head. May she be our east and our west; O Mitra, bind your footsteps. May Pūṣān and Adhvana, and Indra as overseer, fasten them.

वस्व्यस्यदितिरस्यादित्यासि रुद्रासि चन्द्रासि। बृहस्पतिष्ट्वा सुम्ने रम्णातु रुद्रो वसुभिराचके।
Vasvyasyaditirasyādityāsi rudrāsi candrāsi. Bṛhaspatiṣṭvā sumne ramṇātu rudro vasubhirācake.
You are the Vasus, the Adityas, the Rudras, the moons. Let Bṛhaspati stand and the pleasant one delight; may Rudra make the lands wealthy with riches.
Yajurveda 4.24 — Yajna Devata

एष ते गायत्रो भागऽइति मे सोमाय ब्रूउतादेष ते त्रैष्टुभो भागऽइति मे सोमाय ब्रूउतादेष ते जागतो भागऽ इति मे सोमाय ब्रूउताच्छन्दोनामानां साम्राज्यंगच्छेति मे सोमाय ब्रूउतादास्माकोऽसि शुक्रस्ते ग्रह्यो विचितस्त्वा विचिन्वन्तु।
Eṣa te gāyatro bhāga'iti me somāya brūutādeṣa te traiṣṭubho bhāga'iti me somāya brūutādeṣa te jāgato bhāga' iti me somāya brūutācchandonāmānāṃ sāmrājya≈gaccheti me somāya brūutādāsmāko'si śukraste grahyo vicitastvā vicinvantu.
This is thy Gayatri portion, thus I spoke to Soma. This is thy Triṣṭubh portion, thus I spoke to Soma. This is thy Jāgati portion, thus I spoke to Soma. I spoke to Soma: go to sovereignty over the metres. May you be firm, be searched and chosen, O Śukra — you belong to us.

आभि त्यम देवं सवितारमोण्योः कविक्रतुमर्चामि सत्यसवं रत्नधामभि प्रियम मतिम कविम। ऊर्ध्वा यस्यामतिर्भाऽ अदिद्युतत्सवीमनि हिरण्यपाणिरमिमीत सुक्रतुः कृपा स्वः। प्रजाभ्यस्त्वा प्रजास्त्वाऽनुप्राणन्तु प्रजास्त्वमनुप्राणिहि।
ābhi tyam devaṃ savitāramoṇyoḥ kavikratumarcāmi satyasavaṃ ratnadhāmabhi priyam matim kavim. ūrdhvā yasyāmatirbhā' adidyutatsavīmani hiraṇyapāṇiramimīta sukratuḥ kṛpā svaḥ. Prajābhyastvā prajāstvā'nuprāṇantu prajāstvamanuprāṇihi.
I adore the god Savitar and Manoj who creates poets; I worship the true streaming one, the treasure-hall, the beloved mind of the seer. Upwards shine the radiant ones — golden-handed, may Sukratu’s grace be his. To your progeny and by your progeny may life be breathed; may progeny breathe life for you.

शुक्रं त्वा शुक्रेण क्रीणामि चन्द्रं चन्द्रेणामृतममृतेन। सग्मे ते गोरस्मे ते चन्द्राणि तपसस्तनूउरसि प्रजापतेर्वर्णः परमेण पशुना क्रीयसे सहस्रपोषं पुषेयम।
›ukra≈ tvā śukreṇa krīṇāmi candra≈ candreṇāmṛtamamṛtena. Sagme te gorasme te candrāṇi tapasastanūurasi prajāpatervarṇaḥ parameṇa paśunā krīyase sahasrapoṣa≈ puṣeyam.
I buy Shukra with Shukra, the moon with the moon, the immortal with the immortal. I unite you with cattle and with cows, with moons: by ascetic tapas you, O body of Prajāpati, become of foremost hue; may you be made a thousandfold nourisher of beasts.
Yajurveda 4.27 — Vidvan Devata

मित्रो नऽएहि सुमित्रधऽ इन्द्रस्योरुमाविश दक्षिणमुशन्नुशन्तं स्योनः स्योनम। स्वान भ्राजाङ्घारे बम्भारे हस्त सुहस्त कृशानवेते वः सोमक्रयणास्तान्रक्षध्वं मा वो दभन।
Mitro na'ehi sumitradha' indrasyorumāviśa dakṣiṇamuśannuśantaṃ syonaḥ syonam. Svāna bhrājāΔghāre bambhāre hasta suhasta kṛśānavete vaḥ somakrayaṇāstānrakṣadhva≈ mā vo dabhan.
Friend, do not come hostile; O kind one, enter Indra’s house; sit on the right, gently occupying the seat. In your shining hearth, in the place of bamboos, with a good hand and thin limbs, those buying soma — guard them; do not harm them.
Yajurveda 4.28 — Agni Devata

परि माग्ने दुश्चरिताद बाधस्वा मा सुचरिते भज। ऊदायुषा स्वायुषोदस्थाममृतांऽ अनु।
Pari māgne duścaritād bādhasvā mā sucarite bhaja. ūdāyuṣā svāyuṣodasthāmamṛtāṃ' anu.
Around Agni, be hindered by the ill-deed; do not trouble the virtuous; worship the well-doer. With prolonged life, by thine own lifetime, ascend to immortality.
Yajurveda 4.29 — Agni Devata

प्रति पन्थामपद्महि स्वस्तिगामनेहसम। येन विश्वाः परि द्विषो वृणक्ति विन्दते वसु।
Prati panthāmapadmahi svastigāmanehasam. Yena viśvāḥ pari dviṣo vṛṇakti vindate vasu.
May we, going on the path and the lotus-foot, have auspiciousness in our coming and going; by which all the wealth obtains the hostile ones around — may it be found.
Yajurveda 4.30 — Varuna Devata

ह्कओउ आदित्यास्त्वगस्य-दित्यै सदऽआसीद। आस्त-भ्नाद द्यां वृषभोऽ अन्तरिक्षममिमीत वरिमाणम पृथिव्याः। आसीदद्विश्वा भुवनानि सम्राड विश्वेत्तानि वरुणस्य व्रतानि।
Hkqou ādityāstvagasya-dityai sada'āsīda. āsta-bhnād dyā≈ vṛṣabho' antarikṣamamimīta varimāṇam pṛthivyāḥ. Åsīdadviśvā bhuvanāni samrāŒ viśvettāni varuṇasya vratāni.
When the Adityas were, the sky was; from the breaking forth the heaven like a bull, the space measured the waters of the earth. Then all the worlds were — the sovereign worlds; these were the ordinances of Varuṇa.
Yajurveda 4.31 — Varuna Devata

वनेषु व्यन्तरिक्षं ततान वाजमर्वत्सु पयऽ उस्रियासु। हृत्सु क्रतुं वरुणो विक्ष्वग्निं दिवि सुर्यमदधात सोममद्रौ।
Vaneṣu vyantarikṣa≈ tatāna vājamarvatsu paya' usriyāsu. Hṛtsu kratu≈ varuṇo vikṣvagni≈ divi suryamadadhāt somamadrau.
In forests and mid-spaces the steeds thundered, in the milky streams and sun-rays. Varuṇa placed ritual in hearts, he set Agni and the Sun in the sky and Soma in the waters.
Yajurveda 4.32 — Agni Devata

सूउर्यस्य चक्षुरारोहाग्नेरक्ष्णः कनीनकम। यत्रैतशेभिरीयसे भ्राजमानो विपश्चिता।
Sūuryasya cakṣurārohāgnerakṣṇaḥ kanīnakam. Yatraitaśebhirīyase bhrājamāno vipaścitā.
The eye of the Sun is the ascending fire; the dark one is the small. Where you roam among these waters you shine forth, O wise one.
Yajurveda 4.33 — Surya & Vidvan Devata

ऊस्रावेतं धूउर्षाहौ युज्येथामनश्रूउऽ अवीरहणौ ब्रह्मचोदनौ। स्वस्ति यजमानस्य गृहान गच्छतम।
ūsrāveta≈ dhūurṣāhau yujyethāmanaśrūu' avīrahaṇau brahmacodanau. Svasti yajamānasya gṛhān gacchatam.
May this pair of rushing ones be propitious; may they be joined, never separated, stimulants of brahman. May welfare go to the sacrificer’s house.
Yajurveda 4.34 — Yajamana Devata

भद्रो मेऽसि प्रच्यवस्व भुवस्पते विश्वान्यभि धामानि। मा त्वा परिपरिणो विदन मा त्वा परिपन्थिनो विदन मा त्वा वृकाऽ अघायवो विदन। श्येनो भू उ त्वा परापत यजमानस्य गृहान गच्छ तन्नौ संस्कृतम।
Bhadro me'si pracyavasva bhuvaspate viśvānyabhi dhāmāni. Mā tvā paripariṇo vidan mā tvā paripanthino vidan mā tvā vṛkā' aghāyavo vidan. ›yeno bhū u tvā parāpata yajamānasya gṛhān gaccha tannau saṃskṛtam.
Be auspicious to me, O Prajāpati, grant the good abodes of all. May those who surround not harm you; may the wanderers not harm you; may wolves not injure you. If a hawk should fall upon you, go to the sacrificer’s house — thus instructed.
Yajurveda 4.35 — Surya Devata

नमो मित्रस्य वरुणस्य चक्षसे महो देवाय तदृतं सपर्यत। दूउरेदृशे देवजाताय केतवे दिवस्पुत्राय सूउर्याय शंसत।
Namo mitrasya varuṇasya cakṣase maho devāya tadṛtaṃ saparyata. Dūuredṛśe devajātāya ketave divasputrāya sūuryāya śaṃsata.
Salutation to Mitra, to Varuṇa, to the mighty eye; to the great god I pay this praise duly. I sing to the offspring of gods, to Ketu, to the son of day, to the Sun.
