O Lord, I have been asked by you about the entire arrangement of the earth, oceans, and rivers, as well as the positions of the planets.

Then, having attained that state of mind created at that moment, a deer was born in the great forest on the Jambū path, remembering its lineage.

Disturbed by the memory of his lineage, that best of the twice-born, leaving his mother, went to the Salagrama.

By dry grass and leaves, he performed self-nourishment, and thus he attained the liberation from the actions that led to his animal nature.

Having attained knowledge of the self, the great sage saw all beings as non-different, including the gods.

He did not read the scriptures as instructed by the guru, nor did he see the actions and scriptures that he had accepted.

The yogi, who is disrespected by the people, causes great harm to respect; from this, he attains the perfection of yoga.

Therefore, the yogi should act without blemishing the dharma of the virtuous; otherwise, the people, being disregarded, will not attain unity.

tvaṃ rājā śibikā ceyam vayaṃ vāhāḥ puraḥsarāḥ ayaṃ ca bhavato loko na sad etan nṛpocyate ||
You are the king, and this is the chariot; we are the horses in front. This world of yours is not real; it is not spoken of by the king.

From the tree comes the wood, and this chariot is established by you. Where has the identity of the tree gone? Is it now called wood, O king?

The great king seated on the tree does not speak to you, nor does anyone say anything harsh to you, arriving in the palanquin.

You are the king of all worlds, the son of your father, the enemy of the enemy, the husband of your wife, the father of your son; who am I to call you, O King?

What is this, O King? What is your head, and what is your belly? What about your feet and other parts, what is this, O King?

You are established separately from all elements; who am I? Thus, being skilled, think about this, O Earthly King.
