Shiva Purana (siva.sh) · Chapter 69 · Verse 1
upamanyuruvAca ॥ nityanaimittikAtkAmyAdyA siddhiriha kIrtitA ॥ sA sarvA labhyeta sadyo liMgaberapratiSThayA ॥ 1 ॥
Upamanyu said:— The achievement of benefit that has been mentioned here from the Nitya, Naimittika and Kāmya rites can entirely be secured immediately by installing the phallic and the bodily image of Śiva.
Vayaviya-samhita - Chapter 69 - Verse 2
Shiva Purana (siva.sh) · Chapter 69 · Verse 2
sarvo liMgamayo lokassarvaM liMge pratiSThitam ॥ tasmAtpratiSThite liMge bhavetsarvaM patiSThitam ॥ 2 ॥
The world is in the form of Liṅga. Everything is founded on Liṅga. Hence if the Liṅga is installed, everything is installed.

Shiva Purana (siva.sh) · Chapter 69 · Verse 3
brahmaNA viSNunA vApi rudreNAnyena kena vA ॥ liMgapratiSThAmutsRjya kriyate svapadasthitiH ॥ 3 ॥
It is only by resorting to the installation of the Liṅga that Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Rudra or other deities maintain their splendour.
Vayaviya-samhita - Chapter 69 - Verse 4
Shiva Purana (siva.sh) · Chapter 69 · Verse 4
kimanyadiha vaktavyaM pratiSThAM prati kAraNam ॥ partiSThitaM zivenApi liMgaM vaizvezvaraM yataH ॥ 4 ॥
What more reason can be advanced for the installation of Liṅga than that Liṅga of Viśveśvara has been installed by Śiva too?
Vayaviya-samhita - Chapter 69 - Verse 5
Shiva Purana (siva.sh) · Chapter 69 · Verse 5
tasmAtsarvaprayatnena paratreha ca zarmaNe ॥ sthApayetparamezasya liMgaM beramathApi vA ॥ 5 ॥
Hence by all means one shall install the phallic or the bodily image of Śiva for his welfare here and hereafter.
Vayaviya-samhita - Chapter 69 - Verse 6
Shiva Purana (siva.sh) · Chapter 69 · Verse 6

Śrī Kṛṣṇa said:— What is a Liṅga? How is lord Śiva a Liṅgin? How did he have the status of a Liṅga? Why is he worshipped in it?

Upamanyu said:— The unmanifest is called the Liṅga. It is the source of attributes as well as that wherein the universe merges and dissolves. It has neither beginning nor end. It is the material cause of the universe.
Vayaviya-samhita - Chapter 69 - Verse 8
Shiva Purana (siva.sh) · Chapter 69 · Verse 8
tadeva mUlaprakRtirmAyA ca gaganAtmikA ॥ tata eva samutpannaM jagadetaccarAcaram ॥ 8 ॥
It is the Māyā, the Mūlaprakṛti as extensive as the firmament. This universe including the mobile and immobile beings is born of that.

Shiva Purana (siva.sh) · Chapter 69 · Verse 9
azuddhaM caiva zuddhaM yacchuddhAzuddhaM ca tattridhA ॥ tataH zivo mahezazca rudro viSNuH pitAmahaH ॥ 9 ॥
The universe is of three types: the impure, pure and the pure-impure. From the Liṅga are born Śiva, Maheśa, Rudra, Viṣṇu and Brahmā.
Vayaviya-samhita - Chapter 69 - Verse 10
Shiva Purana (siva.sh) · Chapter 69 · Verse 10
bhUtAni cendriyairjAtA lIyante 'tra zivAjJayA ॥ ata eva zivo liMgo liMgamAjJApayedyataH ॥ 10 ॥
The Bhūtas with the sense-organs merge into this at the bidding of Śiva, He is Liṅgin since he commands the Liṅga.
Vayaviya-samhita - Chapter 69 - Verse 11

yato na tadanAjJAtaM kAryAya prabhavetsvataH ॥ tato jAtasya vizvasya tatraiva vilayo yataH ॥ 11 ॥
Because it is not unknown, it automatically appears to be the cause of the action. Then the universe that was born merges there.

Shiva Purana (siva.sh) · Chapter 69 · Verse 12
anena liMgatAM tasya bhavennAnyena kenacit ॥ liMgaM ca zivayordehastAbhyAM yasmAdadhiSThitam ॥ 12 ॥
This is the only way to become a sexually active person. The Lingam is also the body of Lord Śiva and the two Lords from whom it is situated.
Vayaviya-samhita - Chapter 69 - Verse 13
Shiva Purana (siva.sh) · Chapter 69 · Verse 13
atastatra zivaH sAmbo nityameva samarcayet ॥ liMgavedI mahAdevI liMgaM sAkSAnmahezvaraH ॥ 13 ॥
Hence Śiva is worshipped therein for ever along with Śivā. The goddess is the pedestal of the Liṅga and Liṅga is lord Śiva himself.

tayoH saMpUjanAdeva sa ca sA ca samarcitau ॥ na tayorliMgadehatvaM vidyate paramArthataH ॥ 14 ॥
