पान्त॒मा वो॒ अन्ध॑स॒ इन्द्र॑म॒भि प्र गा॑यत । वि॒श्वा॒साहं॑ श॒तक्र॑तुं॒ मंहि॑ष्ठं चर्षणी॒नाम्
pāntamā vo andhasa indramabhi pra gāyata viśvāsāhaṃ śatakratuṃ maṃhiṣṭhaṃ carṣaṇīnām
O blind ones, approach Indra and sing! I, Shatakratu, have passed through all the trusts, the strong-stomached among the plowmen.

पु॒रु॒हू॒तं पु॑रुष्टु॒तं गा॑था॒न्यं१॒॑ सन॑श्रुतम् । इन्द्र॒ इति॑ ब्रवीतन
puruhūtaṃ puruṣṭutaṃ gāthānyaṃ1 sanaśrutam indra iti bravītana
Invoked, invoked in multitude, another chant was heard. They called him Indra.

इन्द्र॒ इन्नो॑ म॒हानां॑ दा॒ता वाजा॑नां नृ॒तुः । म॒हाँ अ॑भि॒ज्ञ्वा य॑मत्
indra inno mahānāṃ dātā vājānāṃ nṛtuḥ mahām̐ abhijñvā yamat
Indra is the giver of mighty oblations, the dancer of wealth; having greatly perceived, he yoked the measured one.

apādu śipryandhasaḥ sudakṣasya prahoṣiṇaḥ indorindro yavāśiraḥ
He brought away swiftly the blind one, the loud-voiced, the skilful—Indra, Indra, the barley-chief.

तम्व॒भि प्रार्च॒तेन्द्रं॒ सोम॑स्य पी॒तये॑ । तदिद्ध्य॑स्य॒ वर्ध॑नम्
tamvabhi prārcatendraṃ somasya pītaye tadiddhyasya vardhanam
They worship him with tamas towards Indra for drinking Soma’s drink to be drunk. That increased his glory.

asya pītvā madānāṃ devo devasyaujasā viśvābhi bhuvanā bhuvat
By drinking this, the god grew vigorous with the intoxication of the gods; he made all the worlds abundant.

I am that protector of your ritual, stretched for all voices; come for the bound, for the joining of the living.

I fought, hero among men, the unerring one, the Soma-drink unmoved; to win for man the heroic deed.

śikṣā ṇa indra rāya ā puru vidvām̐ ṛcīṣama avā naḥ pārye dhane
Teach us, O Indra, the law—O mighty king—so that we, knowing the hymn, may win wealth beyond us.

अत॑श्चिदिन्द्र ण॒ उपा या॑हि श॒तवा॑जया । इ॒षा स॒हस्र॑वाजया
ataścidindra ṇa upā yāhi śatavājayā iṣā sahasravājayā
Thence come near, O Indra, with the hundred-vanquishing might; with the thousand-vanquishing power.

अया॑म॒ धीव॑तो॒ धियोऽर्व॑द्भिः शक्र गोदरे । जये॑म पृ॒त्सु व॑ज्रिवः
ayāma dhīvato dhiyo'rvadbhiḥ śakra godare jayema pṛtsu vajrivaḥ
This mind, sanctified by the hymns, with the fervour of gods in the loins—may we conquer in faces the bolt-bearers.

व॒यमु॑ त्वा शतक्रतो॒ गावो॒ न यव॑से॒ष्वा । उ॒क्थेषु॑ रणयामसि
vayamu tvā śatakrato gāvo na yavaseṣvā uktheṣu raṇayāmasi
We, Shatakratu, are your cows not staying in the reaped places; in chants you have made us battle.

विश्वा॒ हि म॑र्त्यत्व॒नानु॑का॒मा श॑तक्रतो । अग॑न्म वज्रिन्ना॒शसः॑
viśvā hi martyatvanānukāmā śatakrato aganma vajrinnāśasaḥ
Indeed all mortal-desires follow Shatakratu; he does not let the bolt of fire be destroyed.

tve su putra śavaso'vṛtrankāmakātayaḥ na tvāmindrāti ricyate
You are the seed of yearning sons, O Slayer of Śuṣṇa—desire-inducing; you are not sung away from Indra.

sa no vṛṣansaniṣṭhayā saṃ ghorayā dravitnvā dhiyāviḍḍhi puraṃdhyā
May the bull with steadfastness grant us, moving with dread and melting—instigating wisdom for the city’s strength.

यस्ते॑ नू॒नं श॑तक्रत॒विन्द्र॑ द्यु॒म्नित॑मो॒ मदः॑ । तेन॑ नू॒नं मदे॑ मदेः
yaste nūnaṃ śatakratavindra dyumnitamo madaḥ tena nūnaṃ made madeḥ
Whoever of yours, O Shatakratu, is the least in heaven—Indra, highest in splendour of pride—by him our pride is at least diminished.

यस्ते॑ चि॒त्रश्र॑वस्तमो॒ य इ॑न्द्र वृत्र॒हन्त॑मः । य ओ॑जो॒दात॑मो॒ मदः॑
yaste citraśravastamo ya indra vṛtrahantamaḥ ya ojodātamo madaḥ
Whoever of yours is of varied-heard splendour—who slew Vṛtra—who is the giver of mightiest vigour—his pride is the greatest.

वि॒द्मा हि यस्ते॑ अद्रिव॒स्त्वाद॑त्तः सत्य सोमपाः । विश्वा॑सु दस्म कृ॒ष्टिषु॑
vidmā hi yaste adrivastvādattaḥ satya somapāḥ viśvāsu dasma kṛṣṭiṣu
We know who is yours, the mountain-strong, given to you; the true Soma-drinkers. All the hosts have been made in the ploughings.

For Indra may our chants, circling him in the forest, press with speech upon him; let the ploughmen worship the sun.

In whom all glories go forth, the seven assemblies—We invoke Indra, the son (of the sacrificer).

trikadrukeṣu cetanaṃ devāso yajñamatnata tamidvardhantu no giraḥ
When the gods, conscious in threefold clefts, took hold of the sacrifice, may that voice increase for us.

ā tvā viśantvindavaḥ samudramiva sindhavaḥ na tvāmindrāti ricyate
May the rivers pour toward you like seas and streams; you are not approached by Indra alone.

vivyaktha mahinā vṛṣanbhakṣaṃ somasya jāgṛve ya indra jaṭhareṣu te
With wide-open might the bull ate the food of Soma when I waked; he who is Indra among the entrails of you.

अरं॑ त इन्द्र कु॒क्षये॒ सोमो॑ भवतु वृत्रहन् । अरं॒ धाम॑भ्य॒ इन्द॑वः
araṃ ta indra kukṣaye somo bhavatu vṛtrahan araṃ dhāmabhya indavaḥ
May Soma be a strong slayer of Vritra in thy belly; may the rivers bring strength to the realms.

अर॒मश्वा॑य गायति श्रु॒तक॑क्षो॒ अरं॒ गवे॑ । अर॒मिन्द्र॑स्य॒ धाम्ने॑
aramaśvāya gāyati śrutakakṣo araṃ gave aramindrasya dhāmne
Song sings the holy steed for the chariot; the hymn sings the cow for the cow-owner—may this be the dwelling of Indra.

अरं॒ हि ष्म॑ सु॒तेषु॑ णः॒ सोमे॑ष्विन्द्र॒ भूष॑सि । अरं॑ ते शक्र दा॒वने॑
araṃ hi ṣma suteṣu ṇaḥ someṣvindra bhūṣasi araṃ te śakra dāvane
Truly I have offered the oblation in the sons of Soma; among the somes thou art adorned, O Indra; accept this gift.

The roar that arose has rent the hills for you; we have come to you with praise.

You are indeed heroic, mighty, brave and steadfast; thus may your mind be propitious to us.

evā rātistuvīmagha viśvebhirdhāyi dhātṛbhiḥ adhā cidindra me sacā
Thus the night for you, free of guilt, the creators have set with all worlds; Indra is with me below and above.

mo ṣu brahmeva tandrayurbhuvo vājānāṃ pate matsvā sutasya gomataḥ
May sleep be a great protector to me, lord of strength and of the Vedic hymns; be thou the calf of the son of the cow.

Do not, O Indra, drive away the heroes from their places; unite them to thee and we will offer that.

If thou, O Indra, unite us, we will speak to thee with rivalry; thou art ours, and thy renown is with us.

They surround thee, pursue thee repeatedly, the companions like Indra—what deeds are their cries?
