यु॒क्ष्वा हि दे॑व॒हूत॑मा॒ँ अश्वा॑ँ अग्ने र॒थीरि॑व । नि होता॑ पू॒र्व्यः स॑दः
yukṣvā hi devahūtamām̐ aśvām̐ agne rathīriva ni hotā pūrvyaḥ sadaḥ
Drive forth, O Agni, the best of divine offerings as charioteer of the horses like a car; the prior slayer of foes is present.

उ॒त नो॑ देव दे॒वाँ अच्छा॑ वोचो वि॒दुष्ट॑रः । श्रद्विश्वा॒ वार्या॑ कृधि
uta no deva devām̐ acchā voco viduṣṭaraḥ śradviśvā vāryā kṛdhi
May the two gods speak to us favorably; let the wise proclaim abundant devotion; perform worthy rites.

त्वं ह॒ यद्य॑विष्ठ्य॒ सह॑सः सूनवाहुत । ऋ॒तावा॑ य॒ज्ञियो॒ भुवः॑
tvaṃ ha yadyaviṣṭhya sahasaḥ sūnavāhuta ṛtāvā yajñiyo bhuvaḥ
If you sit long with the thousands, O singer of hymns, the sacrificial ones of order and truth dwelling here will be present.

अ॒यम॒ग्निः स॑ह॒स्रिणो॒ वाज॑स्य श॒तिन॒स्पतिः॑ । मू॒र्धा क॒वी र॑यी॒णाम्
ayamagniḥ sahasriṇo vājasya śatinaspatiḥ mūrdhā kavī rayīṇām
This Agni of a thousand energies, lord of strength and hundredfold power—he is the chief seer, the wealth of poets.

तं ने॒मिमृ॒भवो॑ य॒था न॑मस्व॒ सहू॑तिभिः । नेदी॑यो य॒ज्ञम॑ङ्गिरः
taṃ nemimṛbhavo yathā namasva sahūtibhiḥ nedīyo yajñamaṅgiraḥ
Let us honor him as those sacrificial kine do, as they who perform rites; Angiras is the disposer of the rite.

tasmai nūnamabhidyave vācā virūpa nityayā vṛṣṇe codasva suṣṭutim
To him indeed offer speech—not deformed—but ever beautiful; rouse your praise in the bull‑power.

कमु॑ ष्विदस्य॒ सेन॑या॒ग्नेरपा॑कचक्षसः । प॒णिं गोषु॑ स्तरामहे
kamu ṣvidasya senayāgnerapākacakṣasaḥ paṇiṃ goṣu starāmahe
We spread the field of cattle‑wealth for the army of the far‑sighted Agni whose eye is in front; we plant the seed among kine.

मा नो॑ दे॒वानां॒ विशः॑ प्रस्ना॒तीरि॑वो॒स्राः । कृ॒शं न हा॑सु॒रघ्न्याः॑
mā no devānāṃ viśaḥ prasnātīrivosrāḥ kṛśaṃ na hāsuraghnyāḥ
Let not the venom of the gods, like questions, flow upon us; do not let the lean enemies slay us.

मा नः॑ समस्य दू॒ढ्य१॒ः॑ परि॑द्वेषसो अंह॒तिः । ऊ॒र्मिर्न नाव॒मा व॑धीत्
mā naḥ samasya dūḍhya1ḥ paridveṣaso aṃhatiḥ ūrmirna nāvamā vadhīt
May no fierce hatred, no consuming pain surround us; let not the wave destroy our ships.

नम॑स्ते अग्न॒ ओज॑से गृ॒णन्ति॑ देव कृ॒ष्टयः॑ । अमै॑र॒मित्र॑मर्दय
namaste agna ojase gṛṇanti deva kṛṣṭayaḥ amairamitramardaya
Hail to you, Agni, who are praised by the mighty gods for vigor; do not wound our friend with hostile anger.

कु॒वित्सु नो॒ गवि॑ष्ट॒येऽग्ने॑ सं॒वेषि॑षो र॒यिम् । उरु॑कृदु॒रु ण॑स्कृधि
kuvitsu no gaviṣṭaye'gne saṃveṣiṣo rayim urukṛduru ṇaskṛdhi
With what you have struck, O Agni, come to adorn our steeds with riches; swell the broad, fierce, swift ones.

मा नो॑ अ॒स्मिन्म॑हाध॒ने परा॑ वर्ग्भार॒भृद्य॑था । सं॒वर्गं॒ सं र॒यिं ज॑य
mā no asminmahādhane parā vargbhārabhṛdyathā saṃvargaṃ saṃ rayiṃ jaya
Do not, in this great wealth, place the foremost charge on us alone; grant us conjoint prosperity and abundant riches.

अ॒न्यम॒स्मद्भि॒या इ॒यमग्ने॒ सिष॑क्तु दु॒च्छुना॑ । वर्धा॑ नो॒ अम॑व॒च्छवः॑
anyamasmadbhiyā iyamagne siṣaktu ducchunā vardhā no amavacchavaḥ
Bind not another to harm us, O Agni, with hostile mind; increase for us blessed shelters.

यस्याजु॑षन्नम॒स्विनः॒ शमी॒मदु॑र्मखस्य वा । तं घेद॒ग्निर्वृ॒धाव॑ति
yasyājuṣannamasvinaḥ śamīmadurmakhasya vā taṃ ghedagnirvṛdhāvati
Whom the Ashvins or the glad one have praised with sacrificial hymn or song of the russet one, that Agni pierces and makes flourish.

पर॑स्या॒ अधि॑ सं॒वतोऽव॑राँ अ॒भ्या त॑र । यत्रा॒हमस्मि॒ ताँ अ॑व
parasyā adhi saṃvato'varām̐ abhyā tara yatrāhamasmi tām̐ ava
Beyond the spread of the host I stand; where I am, do you come up yonder.

वि॒द्मा हि ते॑ पु॒रा व॒यमग्ने॑ पि॒तुर्यथाव॑सः । अधा॑ ते सु॒म्नमी॑महे
vidmā hi te purā vayamagne pituryathāvasaḥ adhā te sumnamīmahe
We know you well, Agni, as ancient father, as we always were; beneath you we invoke this wealth.
