तम्व॒भि प्र गा॑यत पुरुहू॒तं पु॑रुष्टु॒तम् । इन्द्रं॑ गी॒र्भिस्त॑वि॒षमा वि॑वासत
tamvabhi pra gāyata puruhūtaṃ puruṣṭutam indraṃ gīrbhistaviṣamā vivāsata
They sang forth the sacrifice, the chosen priest, the foremost man. They invoked Indra with songs and praises, and he rejoiced.

यस्य॑ द्वि॒बर्ह॑सो बृ॒हत्सहो॑ दा॒धार॒ रोद॑सी । गि॒रीँरज्रा॑ँ अ॒पः स्व॑र्वृषत्व॒ना
yasya dvibarhaso bṛhatsaho dādhāra rodasī girīm̐rajrām̐ apaḥ svarvṛṣatvanā
He whose two‑armed might bore the broad sway, who gave abundant treasure, the mountains and streams served by his strength.

स रा॑जसि पुरुष्टुत॒ँ एको॑ वृ॒त्राणि॑ जिघ्नसे । इन्द्र॒ जैत्रा॑ श्रव॒स्या॑ च॒ यन्त॑वे
sa rājasi puruṣṭutam̐ eko vṛtrāṇi jighnase indra jaitrā śravasyā ca yantave
You, king, alone have struck down the Vrtras with your might; Indra, conqueror, is yours, and the fame goes to you.

taṃ te madaṃ gṛṇīmasi vṛṣaṇaṃ pṛtsu sāsahim u lokakṛtnumadrivo hariśriyam
I call you my strength, O mighty bull; to make the world prosper you generously bestow heroic splendour.

येन॒ ज्योतीं॑ष्या॒यवे॒ मन॑वे च वि॒वेदि॑थ । म॒न्दा॒नो अ॒स्य ब॒र्हिषो॒ वि रा॑जसि
yena jyotīṃṣyāyave manave ca viveditha mandāno asya barhiṣo vi rājasi
By whom the light is distinguished and the mind discerns; the sluggish one of this mighty company is Indra of the hymns.

तद॒द्या चि॑त्त उ॒क्थिनोऽनु॑ ष्टुवन्ति पू॒र्वथा॑ । वृष॑पत्नीर॒पो ज॑या दि॒वेदि॑वे
tadadyā citta ukthino'nu ṣṭuvanti pūrvathā vṛṣapatnīrapo jayā divedive
Today the singers repeat the ancient praises as before; the bull’s consort, with victory, shines by day.

तव॒ त्यदि॑न्द्रि॒यं बृ॒हत्तव॒ शुष्म॑मु॒त क्रतु॑म् । वज्रं॑ शिशाति धि॒षणा॒ वरे॑ण्यम्
tava tyadindriyaṃ bṛhattava śuṣmamuta kratum vajraṃ śiśāti dhiṣaṇā vareṇyam
If your great power expands, O mighty one, the wise will fashion the sacrifice; the thunderbolt is established by noble thought.

तव॒ द्यौरि॑न्द्र॒ पौंस्यं॑ पृथि॒वी व॑र्धति॒ श्रवः॑ । त्वामापः॒ पर्व॑तासश्च हिन्विरे
tava dyaurindra pauṃsyaṃ pṛthivī vardhati śravaḥ tvāmāpaḥ parvatāsaśca hinvire
Your heaven, Indra, your bounty, earth — fame increases; the waters and the mountains praise you.

त्वां विष्णु॑र्बृ॒हन्क्षयो॑ मि॒त्रो गृ॑णाति॒ वरु॑णः । त्वां शर्धो॑ मद॒त्यनु॒ मारु॑तम्
tvāṃ viṣṇurbṛhankṣayo mitro gṛṇāti varuṇaḥ tvāṃ śardho madatyanu mārutam
Vishnu extols you for your great increase, Mitra and Varuna sing your praise; Shardha follows you like the Maruts.

त्वं वृषा॒ जना॑नां॒ मंहि॑ष्ठ इन्द्र जज्ञिषे । स॒त्रा विश्वा॑ स्वप॒त्यानि॑ दधिषे
tvaṃ vṛṣā janānāṃ maṃhiṣṭha indra jajñiṣe satrā viśvā svapatyāni dadhiṣe
You are the greatest among bulls of men; Indra, I have desired you; you grant all lordships to the peoples.

स॒त्रा त्वं पु॑रुष्टुत॒ँ एको॑ वृ॒त्राणि॑ तोशसे । नान्य इन्द्रा॒त्कर॑णं॒ भूय॑ इन्वति
satrā tvaṃ puruṣṭutam̐ eko vṛtrāṇi tośase nānya indrātkaraṇaṃ bhūya invati
O lord, you alone delight in praise and slay the Vrtras; no other Indra performs such deeds again and again.

यदि॑न्द्र मन्म॒शस्त्वा॒ नाना॒ हव॑न्त ऊ॒तये॑ । अ॒स्माके॑भि॒र्नृभि॒रत्रा॒ स्व॑र्जय
yadindra manmaśastvā nānā havanta ūtaye asmākebhirnṛbhiratrā svarjaya
If Indra is minded by us with varied offerings and calls, he will grant us victory among men.

अरं॒ क्षया॑य नो म॒हे विश्वा॑ रू॒पाण्या॑वि॒शन् । इन्द्रं॒ जैत्रा॑य हर्षया॒ शची॒पति॑म्
araṃ kṣayāya no mahe viśvā rūpāṇyāviśan indraṃ jaitrāya harṣayā śacīpatim
They entered the great forms for our enduring increase; Indra, joyous, crushed the strong enemy.
