प्र मि॒त्रयो॒र्वरु॑णयोः॒ स्तोमो॑ न एतु शू॒ष्यः॑ । नम॑स्वान्तुविजा॒तयोः॑
pra mitrayorvaruṇayoḥ stomo na etu śūṣyaḥ namasvāntuvijātayoḥ
The hymn of Mitra and Varuna is not to be dryly recited. Bow to those two who are kin in might.

या धा॒रय॑न्त दे॒वाः सु॒दक्षा॒ दक्ष॑पितरा । अ॒सु॒र्या॑य॒ प्रम॑हसा
yā dhārayanta devāḥ sudakṣā dakṣapitarā asuryāya pramahasā
Those whom the gods support, the skilled fathers of ritual, they overwhelmed the hostile with great might.

ता नः॑ स्ति॒पा त॑नू॒पा वरु॑ण जरितॄ॒णाम् । मित्र॑ सा॒धय॑तं॒ धियः॑
tā naḥ stipā tanūpā varuṇa jaritṝṇām mitra sādhayataṃ dhiyaḥ
They upheld our stature, they kept safe the bodies of the aged and reinforced the intellects; Mitra made our understanding firm.

यद॒द्य सूर॒ उदि॒तेऽना॑गा मि॒त्रो अ॑र्य॒मा । सु॒वाति॑ सवि॒ता भगः॑
yadadya sūra udite'nāgā mitro aryamā suvāti savitā bhagaḥ
Today at sunrise Mitra, Aryaman, Savita bestow auspiciousness; the radiant lord Savita has come with illumination.

सु॒प्रा॒वीर॑स्तु॒ स क्षयः॒ प्र नु याम॑न्सुदानवः । ये नो॒ अंहो॑ऽति॒पिप्र॑ति
suprāvīrastu sa kṣayaḥ pra nu yāmansudānavaḥ ye no aṃho'tipiprati
They are heroic and powerful, a fruitful vanquisher of foes; those who move toward us bring surpassing bounty.

uta svarājo aditiradabdhasya vratasya ye maho rājāna īśate
O Aditi, sovereign mother, who upholds the vow of the unfathomed sea — great king, protect us.

प्रति॑ वां॒ सूर॒ उदि॑ते मि॒त्रं गृ॑णीषे॒ वरु॑णम् । अ॒र्य॒मणं॑ रि॒शाद॑सम्
prati vāṃ sūra udite mitraṃ gṛṇīṣe varuṇam aryamaṇaṃ riśādasam
May the rising Sun favor you, may Mitra and I hail Varuṇa; the noble one like Aryaman, the seer’s invoker.

रा॒या हि॑रण्य॒या म॒तिरि॒यम॑वृ॒काय॒ शव॑से । इ॒यं विप्रा॑ मे॒धसा॑तये
rāyā hiraṇyayā matiriyamavṛkāya śavase iyaṃ viprā medhasātaye
Thoughts like golden chariots carried by the wolf of night have come; this wisdom of the priests is for me.

ते स्या॑म देव वरुण॒ ते मि॑त्र सू॒रिभिः॑ स॒ह । इषं॒ स्व॑श्च धीमहि
te syāma deva varuṇa te mitra sūribhiḥ saha iṣaṃ svaśca dhīmahi
May they be Varuṇa and Mitra, gods together with the Aśvins; we meditate on their own inspirited thought.

ब॒हवः॒ सूर॑चक्षसोऽग्निजि॒ह्वा ऋ॑ता॒वृधः॑ । त्रीणि॒ ये ये॒मुर्वि॒दथा॑नि धी॒तिभि॒र्विश्वा॑नि॒ परि॑भूतिभिः
bahavaḥ sūracakṣaso'gnijihvā ṛtāvṛdhaḥ trīṇi ye yemurvidathāni dhītibhirviśvāni paribhūtibhiḥ
Many were the sun-eyed, fire-tongued, truth-increasing ones; those three who, like priests, spread laws everywhere with purposeful powers.

वि ये द॒धुः श॒रदं॒ मास॒मादह॑र्य॒ज्ञम॒क्तुं चादृच॑म् । अ॒ना॒प्यं वरु॑णो मि॒त्रो अ॑र्य॒मा क्ष॒त्रं राजा॑न आशत
vi ye dadhuḥ śaradaṃ māsamādaharyajñamaktuṃ cādṛcam anāpyaṃ varuṇo mitro aryamā kṣatraṃ rājāna āśata
Those who offered the autumn milks, who kindled the monthly ritual and chanted in wonder — Varuṇa, Mitra, Aryaman cast the sovereign into dominion.

तद्वो॑ अ॒द्य म॑नामहे सू॒क्तैः सूर॒ उदि॑ते । यदोह॑ते॒ वरु॑णो मि॒त्रो अ॑र्य॒मा यू॒यमृ॒तस्य॑ रथ्यः
tadvo adya manāmahe sūktaiḥ sūra udite yadohate varuṇo mitro aryamā yūyamṛtasya rathyaḥ
Today we laud you with hymns as the Sun rises: Varuṇa, Mitra, Aryaman, you are the chariot of immortality for us.

ऋ॒तावा॑न ऋ॒तजा॑ता ऋता॒वृधो॑ घो॒रासो॑ अनृत॒द्विषः॑ । तेषां॑ वः सु॒म्ने सु॑च्छ॒र्दिष्ट॑मे नरः॒ स्याम॒ ये च॑ सू॒रयः॑
ṛtāvāna ṛtajātā ṛtāvṛdho ghorāso anṛtadviṣaḥ teṣāṃ vaḥ sumne succhardiṣṭame naraḥ syāma ye ca sūrayaḥ
O Lord of Order, born of Order, Order-growing, terrible to the unjust — may you, O auspicious ones, grant this clear command to men and to the heroic gods.

उदु॒ त्यद्द॑र्श॒तं वपु॑र्दि॒व ए॑ति प्रतिह्व॒रे । यदी॑मा॒शुर्वह॑ति दे॒व एत॑शो॒ विश्व॑स्मै॒ चक्ष॑से॒ अर॑म्
udu tyaddarśataṃ vapurdiva eti pratihvare yadīmāśurvahati deva etaśo viśvasmai cakṣase aram
When the seen body rises to heaven at the returning time, if the god pours this, you will behold the world’s order and its realm.

शी॒र्ष्णःशी॑र्ष्णो॒ जग॑तस्त॒स्थुष॒स्पतिं॑ स॒मया॒ विश्व॒मा रजः॑ । स॒प्त स्वसा॑रः सुवि॒ताय॒ सूर्यं॒ वह॑न्ति ह॒रितो॒ रथे॑
śīrṣṇaḥśīrṣṇo jagatastasthuṣaspatiṃ samayā viśvamā rajaḥ sapta svasāraḥ suvitāya sūryaṃ vahanti harito rathe
Crowning and crowned, the world stood; by due ordinance the hosts upheld the realm. Seven sisters, bearing light, carry the Sun in the golden chariot.

तच्चक्षु॑र्दे॒वहि॑तं शु॒क्रमु॒च्चर॑त् । पश्ये॑म श॒रदः॑ श॒तं जीवे॑म श॒रदः॑ श॒तम्
taccakṣurdevahitaṃ śukramuccarat paśyema śaradaḥ śataṃ jīvema śaradaḥ śatam
That eye, beneficent to gods, spoke brightly: ‘May we behold autumn a hundredfold, may we live a hundred autumns.’

काव्ये॑भिरदा॒भ्या या॑तं वरुण द्यु॒मत् । मि॒त्रश्च॒ सोम॑पीतये
kāvyebhiradābhyā yātaṃ varuṇa dyumat mitraśca somapītaye
With eloquent hymns the one who came, Varuṇa, filled the vault of the heaven; Mitra and Soma made him strong to drink.

दि॒वो धाम॑भिर्वरुण मि॒त्रश्चा या॑तम॒द्रुहा॑ । पिब॑तं॒ सोम॑मातु॒जी
divo dhāmabhirvaruṇa mitraścā yātamadruhā pibataṃ somamātujī
Varuṇa and Mitra, coming from the luminous abodes of heaven, have drunk Soma; may the Mothers grant the juice.

आ या॑तं मित्रावरुणा जुषा॒णावाहु॑तिं नरा । पा॒तं सोम॑मृतावृधा
ā yātaṃ mitrāvaruṇā juṣāṇāvāhutiṃ narā pātaṃ somamṛtāvṛdhā
Who came, Mitra and Varuṇa, calling the oblation with joyous cry — men, drink the Soma, source of immortality.
