तं पृ॑च्छता॒ स ज॑गामा॒ स वे॑द॒ स चि॑कि॒त्वाँ ई॑यते॒ सा न्वी॑यते । तस्मि॑न्सन्ति प्र॒शिष॒स्तस्मि॑न्नि॒ष्टयः॒ स वाज॑स्य॒ शव॑सः शु॒ष्मिण॒स्पतिः॑
taṃ pṛcchatā sa jagāmā sa veda sa cikitvām̐ īyate sā nvīyate tasminsanti praśiṣastasminniṣṭayaḥ sa vājasya śavasaḥ śuṣmiṇaspatiḥ
He asked him and went; he knows and heals, he is called and invoked. There stay the ministers, there the strong-established ones: the lord of the harness, the gentle ruler of the offerings.

तमित्पृ॑च्छन्ति॒ न सि॒मो वि पृ॑च्छति॒ स्वेने॑व॒ धीरो॒ मन॑सा॒ यदग्र॑भीत् । न मृ॑ष्यते प्रथ॒मं नाप॑रं॒ वचो॒ऽस्य क्रत्वा॑ सचते॒ अप्र॑दृपितः
tamitpṛcchanti na simo vi pṛcchati sveneva dhīro manasā yadagrabhīt na mṛṣyate prathamaṃ nāparaṃ vaco'sya kratvā sacate apradṛpitaḥ
They question him; not the lion questions him, but the brave with his own mind who was foremost. His speech is not false, first nor second; the composed act stands, un-deceived.

तमिद्ग॑च्छन्ति जु॒ह्व१॒॑स्तमर्व॑ती॒र्विश्वा॒न्येकः॑ शृणव॒द्वचां॑सि मे । पु॒रु॒प्रै॒षस्ततु॑रिर्यज्ञ॒साध॒नोऽच्छि॑द्रोतिः॒ शिशु॒राद॑त्त॒ सं रभः॑
tamidgacchanti juhva1stamarvatīrviśvānyekaḥ śaṛṇavadvacāṃsi me purupraiṣastaturiryajñasādhano'cchidrotiḥ śiśurādatta saṃ rabhaḥ
They go there, they are offered; the rivers flow—hear thou, One among all, my word. The much-sent man became like a priestly oblation; the swift rivers gave forth, the young kine were led together.

उ॒प॒स्थायं॑ चरति॒ यत्स॒मार॑त स॒द्यो जा॒तस्त॑त्सार॒ युज्ये॑भिः । अ॒भि श्वा॒न्तं मृ॑शते ना॒न्द्ये॑ मु॒दे यदीं॒ गच्छ॑न्त्युश॒तीर॑पिष्ठि॒तम्
upasthāyaṃ carati yatsamārata sadyo jātastatsāra yujyebhiḥ abhi śvāntaṃ mṛśate nāndye mude yadīṃ gacchantyuśatīrapiṣṭhitam
Having approached, he moves that which is fit for the ritual; straightway born, he is joined with rites. He seeks the peaceful, he rejoices; if they go to the delightful shore he takes his place among them.

स ईं॑ मृ॒गो अप्यो॑ वन॒र्गुरुप॑ त्व॒च्यु॑प॒मस्यां॒ नि धा॑यि । व्य॑ब्रवीद्व॒युना॒ मर्त्ये॑भ्यो॒ऽग्निर्वि॒द्वाँ ऋ॑त॒चिद्धि स॒त्यः
sa īṃ mṛgo apyo vanargurupa tvacyupamasyāṃ ni dhāyi vyabravīdvayunā martyebhyo'gnirvidvām̐ ṛtaciddhi satyaḥ
He indeed, like a beast, placed a large hide in the forest; Agni spoke to mortals through the wind: the knower, righteous, the true one.
