कृ॒ष्णं नि॒यानं॒ हर॑यः सुप॒र्णा अ॒पो वसा॑ना॒ दिव॒मुत् प॑तन्ति । त आव॑वृत्र॒न्त्सद॑नादृ॒तस्यादिद् घृ॒तेन॑ पृथि॒वीं व्यूऽदुः ॥१॥
kṛṣṇaṃ niyānaṃ harayaḥ suparṇā apo vasānā divam ut patanti te āvavṛtrant sadanād ṛtasya ādid ghṛtena pṛthivīṃ vy ūduḥ
The dark-yoked tawny steeds, fair-winged, clad in waters, soar to heaven; they released from the seat of Ṛta, and with ghee they spread the earth wide open.

पय॑स्वतीः कृणुथा॒प ओष॑धीः शि॒वा यदेज॑था मरुतो रुक्मवक्षसः । ऊर्जं॑ च॒ तत्र॑ सुम॒तिं च॑ पिन्वत॒ यत्रा॑ नरो मरुतः सि॒ञ्चथा॒ मधु॑ ॥२॥
payasvatīḥ kṛṇuthāpa oṣadhīḥ śivā yad ejathā maruto rukmavakṣasaḥ ūrjaṃ ca tatra sumatiṃ ca pinvata yatrā naro marutaḥ siñcathā madhu
Make the waters milk-rich; O Maruts of golden breastplates, when you set them in motion, make the herbs auspicious. There pour in strength and good favor, where you Maruts sprinkle sweetness.

उ॒द॒प्रुतो॑ म॒रुत॒स्तां इ॑यर्त वृ॒ष्टिर्या विश्वा॑ नि॒वत॑स्पृ॒णाति॑ । एजा॑ति॒ ग्लहा॑ क॒न्येऽव तु॒न्नैरुं॑ तुन्दा॒ना पत्ये॑व जा॒या॥३॥
udapruto marutas tām iyarta vṛṣṭir yā viśvā nivatas pṛṇāti | ejāti glahā kanye ’va tunnair uṃ tundānā patyeva jāyā |
The Maruts have been let loose; they set in motion that rain which drenches all shelters. The young woman trembles and clutches the threads, like a wife clinging to her husband.
