त्वया॒ पूर्व॒मथ॑र्वाणो ज॒घ्नू रक्षां॑स्योषधे । त्वया॑ जघान क॒श्यप॒स्त्वया॒ कण्वो॑ अ॒गस्त्यः॑ ॥१॥
tvayā pūrvam atharvāṇo jaghnū rakṣāṃsy oṣadhe | tvayā jaghāna kaśyapas tvayā kaṇvo agastyaḥ
With you the Atharvāṇas of old slew the Rākṣasas, O herb. With you Kaśyapa slew them; with you Kaṇva and Agastya.

त्वया॑ व॒यम॑प्स॒रसो॑ गन्ध॒र्वांस्चा॑तयामहे । अज॑शृ॒ङ्ग्यज॒ रक्षः॒ सर्वा॑न् ग॒न्धेन॑ नाशय ॥२॥
tvayā vayam apsaraso gandharvāṃś cātayāmahe | ajaśṛṅgy aja rakṣaḥ sarvān gandhena nāśaya
With you we drive away Apsarases and Gandharvas. O goat-horned one, O herb, destroy all demons by your fragrance.

न॒दीं य॑न्त्वप्स॒रसो॒ऽपां ता॒रम॑वश्व॒सम्। गु॒ल्गु॒लूः पीला॑ नल॒द्यौ॒३क्षग॑न्धिः प्रमन्द॒नी। तत् परे॑ताप्सरसः॒ प्रति॑बुद्धा अभूतन ॥३॥
nadīṃ yantv apsaraso pām tāram avaśvasam | gulgulūḥ pīlā naladyau kṣagandhiḥ pramandanī | tat pretāpsarasaḥ pratibuddhā abhūtana
Let the Apsarases go to the river, to the far shore of the waters, to the pasture. Gulgulu, pīlā, naladyā, kṣagandhi, pramandanī— with that, O awakened Apsarases of the departed, be gone.

yatrāśvatthā nyagrodhā mahāvṛkṣāḥ śikhaṇḍinaḥ | tat pretāpsarasaḥ pratibuddhā abhūtana
Where aśvatthas and nyagrodhas stand, great trees with crests— there, O Apsarases of the departed, awaken and depart.

yatra vaḥ preṅkhā haritā arjunā uta yatrāghātāḥ karkaryaḥ saṃvadanti tat pretāpsarasaḥ pratibuddhā abhūtana
Where your swing hangs, green and bright, and where the pounding pestles speak together—there, O Apsaras, be roused and depart.

eyam agann oṣadhīnāṃ vīrudhāṃ vīryāvatī ajaśṛṅgy arāṭakī tīkṣṇaśṛṅgī vy ṛṣatu
This has come from herbs and plants, full of vigor: the horned goat-plant, the hedge-thorn, the sharp-horned—let it drive them away.

ā nṛtyataḥ śikhaṇḍino gandharvasyāpsarāpateḥ bhinadmi muṣkāv api yāmi śepaḥ
From the dancing crested one, from the Gandharva, from the lord of the Apsaras— I smash the testicles; I strike away the virility.

bhīmā indrasya hetayaḥ śatam ṛṣṭīr ayasmayīḥ tābhir haviradān gandharvān avakādān vy ṛṣatu
Fearsome are Indra’s weapons—hundreds of iron-tipped spears. With them, let them drive off the Gandharvas who take the oblation, the stealthy ones.

avakādān abhi śocān apsu jyotaya mām akā́n piśācān sarvān auṣadhe pra mṛṇīhi sahasva ca
Do not mourn the departed; kindle light for me in the waters. Sweep away all Piśācas and ailments; make me strong.

स्वेवैकः॑ क॒पिरि॒वैकः॑ कुमा॒रः स॑र्वकेश॒कः । प्रियो दृश इ॑व भू॒त्वा ग॑न्ध॒र्वः स॑चते॒ स्त्रिय॑स्त॑मि॒तो ना॑शयामसि॒ ब्रह्म॑णा वी॒र्याऽवता ॥११॥
svevaikaḥ kapir ivaikaḥ kumāraḥ sarva-keśakaḥ priyo dṛśa iva bhūtvā gandharvaḥ sacate striyaḥ tam ito nāśayāmasi brahmaṇā vīryāvatā
Single in form like a tawny ape, like a child with all his hair, like one dear to the sight, the Gandharva accompanies women; by the Brahman’s valor we drive him away.

जा॒या इद् वो॑ अप्स॒रसो॒ गन्ध॑र्वाः॒ पत॑यो यू॒यम्। अप धावतामर्त्या॒ मर्त्या॒न् मा स॑चध्वम्॥१२॥
jāyā id vo apsaraso gandharvāḥ patayo yūyam apa dhāvata amartyā martyān mā sacadhvam
Apsarases are your wives; the Gandharvas are your lords. Immortals, run away from mortals; do not consort with them.
