ततः सा ब्राह्मणी बहुशस तं याचितवती। प्रसीदेक्ष्वाकुकुलतिलकभूतस त्वं महाराज मित्रसहो न राक्षसो नार्हसि स्त्रीधर्मसुखाभिज्ञो मय्य अकृतार्थायाम इमं मद्भर्तारम अत्तुम इत्य एवं बहुप्रकारं तस्यां विलपन्त्यां व्याघ्रः पशुम इव तं ब्राह्मणम अभक्षयत।।
tataḥ sā brāhmaṇī bahuśas taṃ yācitavatī| prasīdekṣvākukulatilakabhūtas tvaṃ mahārāja mitrasaho na rākṣaso nārhasi strīdharmasukhābhijño mayy akṛtārthāyām imaṃ madbhartāram attum ity evaṃ bahuprakāraṃ tasyāṃ vilapantyāṃ vyāghraḥ paśum iva taṃ brāhmaṇam abhakṣayat||
Then the Brahmin's wife, pleading many times, said: 'O great king, you are the jewel of the Ikshvaku dynasty, you should not be a demon, knowing the happiness of women's dharma, do not devour my husband who is helpless.' While she lamented in various ways, the tiger devoured that Brahmin like an animal.
