शूरस्य कुन्तिर नाम सखाभवत। तस्मै चापुत्राय पृथाम आत्मजां विधिना शूरो दत्तवान। तां च पाण्डुर उवाह। तस्यां च धर्मानिलशक्रैर युधिष्ठिरभीमार्जुनाख्यास त्रयः पुत्राः समुत्पादिताः। पूर्वम अनूढायाश च भगवता भास्वता कानीनः कर्णो नाम पुत्रो ऽजन्यत।।
śūrasya kuntir nāma sakhābhavat| tasmai cāputrāya pṛthām ātmajāṃ vidhinā śūro dattavān| tāṃ ca pāṇḍur uvāha| tasyāṃ ca dharmānilaśakrair yudhiṣṭhirabhīmārjunākhyās trayaḥ putrāḥ samutpāditāḥ| pūrvam anūḍhāyāś ca bhagavatā bhāsvatā kānīnaḥ karṇo nāma putro 'janyata||
The son of the brave was named Kunti. To him, the brave one gave his daughter Pritha as a daughter-in-law. He also married Pandu. From her, three sons named Yudhishthira, Bhima, and Arjuna were born, endowed with the qualities of Dharma, wind, and Indra. Earlier, the son named Karna was born to her by the divine light.
