इत्य उक्तः शतधन्वाह। यद्य अस्मत्परित्राणासमर्थं भवान आत्मानम अवगच्छति तद अयम अस्मन्मणिः संगृह्य रक्ष्यताम इत्युक्तः सो ऽप्य आह। यद्य अन्तायाम अप्य अवस्थायां न कस्मैचिद भवान कथयिष्यति तद अहम एनं ग्रहीष्यामीति। तथेत्य उक्ते चाक्रूरस तन मणिरत्नं जग्राह।।
ity uktaḥ śatadhanvāha| yady asmatparitrāṇāsamarthaṃ bhavān ātmānam avagacchati tad ayam asmanmaṇiḥ saṃgṛhya rakṣyatām ityuktaḥ so 'py āha| yady antāyām apy avasthāyāṃ na kasmaicid bhavān kathayiṣyati tad aham enaṃ grahīṣyāmīti| tathety ukte cākrūras tan maṇiratnaṃ jagrāha||
Thus spoke Shatadhanva. If you understand that you are incapable of protecting us, then this gem of ours should be kept safe. Saying this, he also added, 'If at the end you do not speak to anyone, then I will take this gem.' Upon hearing this, the wicked one took that gem.
