तया चैवम उक्तः परितुष्टान्तःकरणो ऽपि कृष्णः सत्यभामाम अमर्षताम्रलोचनः प्राह। सत्ये ममैवैषावहासना। नाहम एतां तस्य दुरात्मनः सहिष्ये। न ह्य अनुल्लङ्घ्य वरपादपं तत्कृतनीडाश्रयिणो विहंगा वध्यन्ते। तद अलम अत्यर्थम अमुनास्मत्पुरतः शोकप्रेरितवाक्यपरिकरेणेत्य उक्त्वा द्वारकाम अभ्येत्य बलदेवम एकान्ते वासुदेवः प्राह। मृगयागतं प्रसेनम अटव्यां मृगपतिर जघान। सत्राजितो ऽप्य अधुना शतधन्वना निधनं प्रापितः। तदुभयविनाशात तन मणिरत्नम आवाभ्यां सामान्यं भविष्यति।।
tayā caivam uktaḥ parituṣṭāntaḥkaraṇo 'pi kṛṣṇaḥ satyabhāmām amarṣatāmralocanaḥ prāha| satye mamaivaiṣāvahāsanā| nāham etāṃ tasya durātmanaḥ sahiṣye| na hy anullaṅghya varapādapaṃ tatkṛtanīḍāśrayiṇo vihaṃgā vadhyante| tad alam atyartham amunāsmatpurataḥ śokapreritavākyaparikareṇety uktvā dvārakām abhyetya baladevam ekānte vāsudevaḥ prāha| mṛgayāgataṃ prasenam aṭavyāṃ mṛgapatir jaghāna| satrājito 'py adhunā śatadhanvanā nidhanaṃ prāpitaḥ| tadubhayavināśāt tan maṇiratnam āvābhyāṃ sāmānyaṃ bhaviṣyati||
Thus addressed, Krishna, who was satisfied, spoke to Satyabhama, whose eyes were red with anger: 'This is indeed my jest. I will not tolerate this wicked one. Birds that take refuge in the shelter of the great tree are not killed if they do not transgress. Therefore, it is enough to be greatly distressed by this lamentation. Having said this, Vasudeva went to Dwaraka and spoke to Baladeva in private: 'The deer in the forest killed Prasena. Satrājit has now met his end at the hands of the hundred bowman. Therefore, due to the destruction of both, that jewel will become common to us.'
