Though none of the viṁśa exceeds 20 songs, some have only 3 songs. How- ever, there are two observations here. The song number 55 is re- peated twice in two consecutive Gāna-s in most books, so the ac- tual count of songs found in all standard books is 205 (instead of 204). Also, all the books I have seen give only these 205 songs, and I have not seen the remaining 4 missing songs that total to 209, any- where. The book, "Sāmaved kā Subodh Bhāṣya" by Śrīpāda Dāmodara Satvalekar (1935) gives the count as 205.
