divo na sargā asasṛgramahnāṃ rājā na mitraṃ pra mināti dhīraḥ piturna putraḥ kratubhiryatāna ā pavasva viśe asyā ajītim
The sky is not the maker of day alone; the king does not abandon a steadfast friend. The father is not the son; through sacrificial deeds the invigorating one attains unique triumph—this unconquered glory.
As the rays of the days of the sun are let loose (so are the streams of the Soma); a prudent king does not abandon his friend; as a son preserving in pious acts (wins) his father's (safety), do you pour upon this people immunity from defeat.
The streams of days, were poured as 'twere from heaven: the wise King doth not treat his friend unkindly. Like a son following his father's wishes, grant to this family success and safety.
