ā dakṣiṇā sṛjyate śuṣmyā3sadaṃ veti druho rakṣasaḥ pāti jāgṛviḥ hariropaśaṃ kṛṇute nabhaspaya upastire camvo3rbrahma nirṇije
From the south the subtle one is born; the slayer of foes protected, the watchful wakes. He makes a covering, the sky-horse, and the pair of priests invoke Brahman in the waters.
The donation is given; the vigorous (Soma) enters his resting-plural ce, and, vigilant, guards (his worshippers) against the malignant rākṣasas; the green-tinted (Soma) produces the all-sustaining water of the sun; (he plural ces) the mighty sun to cover the two worlds, to purify (created things).
THE guerdon is bestowed: the Mighty takes his Seat, and, ever-Watchful, guards from fiend and evil sprite. Gold-hued, he makes the cloud his diadem, the milk his carpet in both worlds, and prayer his robe of state.
