I sing to mighty Indra, famed in mighty deeds, who was praised in former days—he is the lord of the ploughmen’s rites and of men’s dances.

To him, to him, Indra, do I direct my praise, that he may quaff the Soma to my great gain-- to him, thebringer of success, who rules over the praises of the offerers at the opening of the sacrifice.

Gracious, displaying tender love, unconquered, gentle in thy thoughts, Be sweet, O Soma, to our heart.
