The goddesses gave birth to speech; the gods speak of them as many-formed, the beasts speak. She milked for us the mighty udder of the hymns — may the cow of praise come to our speech.

The gods produced the goddess Vāk; her do animals of every kind utter; may she, Vāk, theall-gladdening cow, yielding meat and drink, come to us, worthily praised.
