tvāmagne samidhāno vasiṣṭho jarūthaṃ hanyakṣi rāye puraṃdhim puruṇīthā jātavedo jarasva yūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ
Agni, you who are Vasistha among sacrificers, you will strike down the aged ruin and slay the foeman; protect the city’s lord. O ancient-born Jātavedas, be ever our keeper with auspiciousness.
Vasiṣṭha is kindling you, Agni; destroy the malignant; worship the object of many rites, (the company ofthe gods), on behalf of the wealthy (instrumental tutor of the sacrifice), praise (the gods), Jātavedas, with manifoldpraises, and do you ever cherish us with blessings.
Vasistha, when enkindling thee, O Agni, hath slain jarutha. Give us wealth in plenty. Sing praise in choral song, O Jatavedas. Ye Gods, preserve us evermore with blessings.
