At the rising of the Sun we praised Mitra with hymns, Varuna, pure and skilled. He who looked upon the Sun’s foremost eye—the elder of the world—subdued the hostile ones and won immortality.
When the sun has risen, I invoke Mitra and you, Varuṇa, of pure vigour, whose imperishable andsuperior might is triumphant in the crowded conflict over all enemies.
WITH hymns I call you, when the Sun hath risen, Mitra, and Varuna whose thoughts are holy, Whose Power Divine, supreme and everlasting, comes with good heed at each man's supplication.
