These blinking lights of heaven and the shining regions of earth lead the mindless ones; the fierce one who tore the day is mighty — may he ward off the poison that besets us.
(Beholding) with unclosing eyes, and cognizant (of the things) of heaven and earth, they conduct theignorant man (to duty); in the lowes depth of the river, (through them), there is a bottom; may they lead us to theopposite shore of the vast expanse.
They ever vigilant, with eyes that close not, caring for heaven and earth, lead on the thoughtless. Even in the river's bed there is a shallow. across this broad expanse may they conduct us.
