यो अ॑पा॒चीने॒ तम॑सि॒ मद॑न्तीः॒ प्राची॑श्च॒कार॒ नृत॑मः॒ शची॑भिः । तमीशा॑नं॒ वस्वो॑ अ॒ग्निं गृ॑णी॒षेऽना॑नतं द॒मय॑न्तं पृत॒न्यून्
yo apācīne tamasi madantīḥ prācīścakāra nṛtamaḥ śacībhiḥ tamīśānaṃ vasvo agniṃ gṛṇīṣe'nānataṃ damayantaṃ pṛtanyūn
He who, kindling waters in darkness, delighted in might and made the east move, with swift ones and with the powerful—O Agni, I call upon the lord who tames the endless, who restrains the too numerous.
The chief of leaders has, by the benefits (bestowed upon them), guided those praising (him) throughthe accusative ulated gloom (of night); I glorify that Agni, the unbending lord of wealth, the tamer of adversarieṣ
Him who brought eastward, manliest with his prowess, the Maids rejoicing in the western darkness, That Agni I extol, the Lord of riches, unyielding tamer of assailing foemen.
