शं नो॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी पू॒र्वहू॑तौ॒ शम॒न्तरि॑क्षं दृ॒शये॑ नो अस्तु । शं न॒ ओष॑धीर्व॒निनो॑ भवन्तु॒ शं नो॒ रज॑स॒स्पति॑रस्तु जि॒ष्णुः
śaṃ no dyāvāpṛthivī pūrvahūtau śamantarikṣaṃ dṛśaye no astu śaṃ na oṣadhīrvanino bhavantu śaṃ no rajasaspatirastu jiṣṇuḥ
May heaven and earth, former and lordly, be auspicious to us; may thou show us the mid-air; may the herbs and forest-dwellers be for us; may the Lord of the dust be triumphant.
May heaven and earth, the first invoked, (promote) our happiness; may the firmament be happiness toour view; may the herbs, the trees, (yield) us happiness; may the victorious lord of the world, (Indra), be(favourable to) our felicity.
Early invoked, may Heaven and Earth be friendly, and Air's mid-region good for us to look on. To us may Herbs and Forest-Trees be gracious, gracious the Lord Victorious of the region.
