satre ha jātāviṣitā namobhiḥ kumbhe retaḥ siṣicatuḥ samānam tato ha māna udiyāya madhyāttato jātamṛṣimāhurvasiṣṭham
In the sacrificial post were born those enemies; their seed sprinkled the vessel with equal drops. Then honor rose, middlemost, and the born sage they called Vasishtha.
Consecrated for the sacrifice, propitiated by praises, they, Mitra and Varuṇa, poured a commoneffusion into the water-jar, from the midst of which Māna arose, and from which also, they say, Vasiṣṭha wasborn.
Born at the sacrifice, urged by adorations, both with a common flow bedewed the pitcher. Then from the midst thereof there rose up Mana, and thence they say was born the sage Vasistha.
