utāsi maitrāvaruṇo vasiṣṭhorvaśyā brahmanmanaso'dhi jātaḥ drapsaṃ skannaṃ brahmaṇā daivyena viśve devāḥ puṣkare tvādadanta
Mitra-Varuna rose; Vasishtha, lordly in mind, was born. The gods endowed the world with divine Brahman; they placed all in the lake of bounty.
Verily, Vasiṣṭha you are the son of Mitra and Varuṇa, born, Brahmā, of the will of Urvaśī, after theseminal effusion; all the gods have sustained you, (endowed) with celestial and Vedic vigour in the lake.
Born of their love for Urvasi, Vasistha thou, priest, art son of Varuna and Mitra; And as a fallen drop, in heavenly fervour, all the Gods laid thee on a lotus-blossorn.
