सु॒सं॒दृक्ते॑ स्वनीक॒ प्रती॑कं॒ वि यद्रु॒क्मो न रोच॑स उपा॒के । दि॒वो न ते॑ तन्य॒तुरे॑ति॒ शुष्म॑श्चि॒त्रो न सूरः॒ प्रति॑ चक्षि भा॒नुम्
susaṃdṛkte svanīka pratīkaṃ vi yadrukmo na rocasa upāke divo na te tanyatureti śuṣmaścitro na sūraḥ prati cakṣi bhānum
When rightly spoken the token of one’s own becomes pleasing; if the red does not please, approaches do not help. Of heaven you are not other; the subtle, variegated sun, not hostile, beholds the radiant light.
Resplendent Agni, when you shine nigh at hand like gold, your appearance is beautiful; your mightissues like the thunderbolt from the firmament, and like the wonderful sun, you display your lustre.
O fair of face, beautiful is thine aspect when, very near at hand, like gold thou gleamest, Like Heaven's thundering roar thy might approaches, and like the wondrous Sun thy light thou showest.
