प्रोथ॒दश्वो॒ न यव॑सेऽवि॒ष्यन्य॒दा म॒हः सं॒वर॑णा॒द्व्यस्था॑त् । आद॑स्य॒ वातो॒ अनु॑ वाति शो॒चिरध॑ स्म ते॒ व्रज॑नं कृ॒ष्णम॑स्ति
prothadaśvo na yavase'viṣyanyadā mahaḥ saṃvaraṇādvyasthāt ādasya vāto anu vāti śociradha sma te vrajanaṃ kṛṣṇamasti
The steed roused not leaps in the harvest’s chariot; greatness stood firm by restraint. The winds gave way; they follow the wind — move, O black one, the keen chariot is thine.
When, like a neighing steed about to feed upon the forage, (Agni) springs up from the vast-enclosing(forest) then the wind fans his flame; and black, (Agni), is your course.
Like a steed neighing eager for the pasture, when he hath stepped forth from the great enclosure: Then the wind following blows upon his splendour, and, straight, the path is black which thou hast travelled.
