उ॒तो घा॒ ते पु॑रु॒ष्या॒३॒॑ इदा॑स॒न्येषां॒ पूर्वे॑षा॒मशृ॑णो॒रृषी॑णाम् । अधा॒हं त्वा॑ मघवञ्जोहवीमि॒ त्वं न॑ इन्द्रासि॒ प्रम॑तिः पि॒तेव॑
uto ghā te puruṣyā3 idāsanyeṣāṃ pūrveṣāmaśaṛṇorṛṣīṇām adhāhaṃ tvā maghavañjohavīmi tvaṃ na indrāsi pramatiḥ piteva
Just as earlier seers and singers knew the mighty forms of the primal Man, so now I invoke thee, mighty Indra; you are not heedless—my mind is like that of a father.
Friendly to man were those ancien Ṛṣis whose praise you have listened to; therefore, I repeatedlyinvoke you, Maghavan; you, Indra, are well affected towards us as a parent.
They, verily, were also human beings whom thou wast wont to hear, those earlier sages. Hence I, O Indra Maghavan, invoke thee: thou art our Providence, even as a Father.
