O oldest of all your true ones, by songs Mitra and Varuna grew for you. May the ray unite; may the two peoples at the meeting support us with their own arms.
(I proceed) by my praises to exalt you, Mira and Varuṇa, the eldest of all existing things; you two, though not the same, are the irmest resrainers with your arms, and hold men back (from eil) as they check (horses) with reins.
NOW Mitra-Varuna shall be exalted high by your songs, noblest of all existing; They who, as 'twere with reins are best Controllers, unequalled with their arms to check the people.
