karhi svittadindra yajjaritre viśvapsu brahma kṛṇavaḥ śaviṣṭha kadā dhiyo na niyuto yuvāse kadā gomaghā havanāni gacchāḥ
When did Indra, bright, with the slayers of foes make the widespread waters and create the sacrificial might of Brahman? When were your intellects not appointed, when did the cattle-pressings and offerings go forth?
When, most vigorous Indra, will you grant your worshipper that food which is all-sufficing? When will you combine (in yourself) worship and praises? When will you render oblations productive of cattle?
Yea, when wilt thou, O Indra, thou Most Mighty, make the prayer all-sustaining for the singer? When wilt thou yoke, as we yoke songs, thy Horses, and come to offerings that bring wealth in cattle?
