Men ordained Indra for your friendship; great are they who proceed with good counsel. For indeed the great giver has the thunderbolt in hand; equip yourselves for mighty battle and perform the rite.
Your priests, (oḥ worshippers), proppitiate Indra for his friendship, offering great (praise), and desirous of his favour; for the wielder of the thunderbolt is the giver of vast (wealth); worship him, therefore, who is mighty and benevolent, (to obtain) his protection.
YOUR men have followed Indra for his friendship, and for his loving-kindness glorified him. For he bestows great wealth, the Thunder-wielder: worship him, Great and Kind, to win his favour.
