The giver sings of you, O wealthy one; mighty in the wealth’s glory you stand in the fold. You are set against Vṛtra; you, strong, I praise among cattle fighting with fists.

The son of Vājini, (Bharadvāja), offering (sacrificial) viands, invokes you for (the sake of) acquiring obtainable and abundant food; (he invokes) you, Indra, the preserver of the good, the defender (from the wicked), when enemies (assail him); he depends upon you when, lifting up his fist, he is fighting for (his) cattle.

The warrior, son of warrior sire, invokes thee, to gain great strength that may be won as booty: To thee, the brave man's Lord, the fiends' subduer, he looks when fighting hand to hand for cattle.
