When Indra struck down Vṛtra, you shone forth in the heaven’s expanse; when Indra, the hero, became formidable, he terrified the hostile bands.
Or as, although engaged in heaven in the hero-animating conflict with foes, you protect the offerer of the libation, and humblest, undaunted Indra, the Dasyus, the disturbers of the pious and terrified worshipper, (so do you come when the soma is effused.
Or when on that decisive day thou holpest the presser of the juice at Vrtra's slaughter; Or when thou, while the strong one feared, undaunted, gavest to death, Indra, the daring Dasyus.
