taṃ va indraṃ catinamasya śākairiha nūnaṃ vājayanto huvema yathā citpūrve jaritāra āsuranedyā anavadyā ariṣṭāḥ
We have honoured that Indra with branches here, surely praising him with speech. As of old the enemies were made weak by the heroic ancient ones, invincible, unbroken.
Desiring sustenance, we invoke you, the renowned Indra, on this occasion, the destroyer (of enemies), together with his powerful allies (the Maruts); as his ancient adorers have been, (may we be), exempt from blame, irreproachable, unharmed.
Now, fain for strength, let us invite your Indra hither, who lieth hidden with his Heroes,- Free from all blame, without reproach, uninjured, e'en as were those who sang, of old, his praises.
