Agni grants a mighty hero remembered by the pious; I give the true lord a manly gift. Those whom the funeral rites terrify, the watchful foes behold with dread.
Agni bestows (upon his worshippers) a male descendant, (the performer of good) works, the subduer of foes, the protector of the virtuous, at whose appearance his enemies tremble through fear of his prowess.
Agni bestows the hero chief, winner of waters, firm in fray. Soon as they look upon his might his enemies tremble in alarm.
