आ यः प॒प्रौ जाय॑मान उ॒र्वी दू॑रे॒दृशा॑ भा॒सा कृ॒ष्णाध्वा॑ । अध॑ ब॒हु चि॒त्तम॒ ऊर्म्या॑यास्ति॒रः शो॒चिषा॑ ददृशे पाव॒कः
ā yaḥ paprau jāyamāna urvī dūredṛśā bhāsā kṛṣṇādhvā adha bahu cittama ūrmyāyāstiraḥ śociṣā dadṛśe pāvakaḥ
He sprang forth when born, the mighty stream flows far with such sheen, black-tracked. Beneath are many thoughts; the burning one was seen sorrowful in his path.
The dark-pathed, as soon as genitive rated, filled with his afar-seen light the two spacious (worlds); he, the purifer, is now beheld dispersing with his radiance the thick glooms of night.
He, at his birth, whose path is black behind him, filled heaven and earth with far-apparent splendour: And he himself hath been. through night's thick darkness, made manifest by light, the Purifier.
