O Agni, the fuel-offering invoked with ghee goes upward with pleasant flames and pure fuels. You, swelling with growth like herbs and trees, prosper on the earth and there you stand.
The ancient seekers after happiness hav ekindled you, Agni, when invoked, (and fed you) with abundant fuel; and you (thereby) increasing, and supplied with shrubs, are dominat over all terrestrial viands.
Men seeking joy have lit thee worshipped from of old, O Agni, with good fuel and with sacred oil. So thou, bedewed and waxing mighty by the plants, spreadest thyself abroad over the realms of earth.
