Mitra and Varuṇa spoke the liberal, manifold-shedding rain with eloquence. The Maruts dwelt in clouds; by their magic they let the sky pour down the red dawn of morning.
The cloud, (through your will), Mitra and Varuṇa, utters a wonderful sound, indicative of radiance, and announcing (abundant) food; the Maruts thoroughly invest the clouds with (their) devices, and, (along with them), you two cause the purple and faultless sky to send down rain.
Refreshing is your voice, O Mitra-Varuna: Parjanya sendeth out a wondrous mighty voice. With magic power the Maruts clothe them with the clouds. Ye Two cause Heaven to rain, the red, the spotless One.
