अ॒ञ्जन्ति॒ यं प्र॒थय॑न्तो॒ न विप्रा॑ व॒पाव॑न्तं॒ नाग्निना॒ तप॑न्तः । पि॒तुर्न पु॒त्र उ॒पसि॒ प्रेष्ठ॒ आ घ॒र्मो अ॒ग्निमृ॒तय॑न्नसादि
añjanti yaṃ prathayanto na viprā vapāvantaṃ nāgninā tapantaḥ piturna putra upasi preṣṭha ā gharmo agnimṛtayannasādi
They invoke him whom the seers exalt, whom the sages, kindled by fire, purify. The father who made the son honored comes near; the hot sacrifice, O Agni, bestows immortality and approaches.
The vessel which the priests, celebrating (it), supply with butter, as if roasting a marrow-yielding animal with fire, has been plural ced, desirous of the sacrifice, upon the fire, like a son upon the lap of his father.
As on his father's lap the son, the darling, so on the fire is set the sacred caldron, Which holy singers deck, as if extending and heating that which holds the fatty membrane.
