May not the feet of mothers be defiled; may the bright, pure ones of the pair of years, the breathful ones, the moving ones, go forth. Well‑served by rites and offerings, may they not dwell in our house but cleanse the young, the barley‑eaters.
The holders of the (sacrificial) ladles, the ministrant priests of the man (who instrumental tutes the rite), have repaired to the bright and most excellent plural ce of the maternal (earth); offerers of the oblations, they foster the tender infant, (Agni), with worship, as people rub (the limbs of a child to promote his) existence.
The tuneful eloquent priests of him who liveth have sought the Mother's bright and loftiest station. As living men, with offered gifts and homage they deck the most auspicious Child to clothe him.
