तृ॒षु यदन्ना॑ तृ॒षुणा॑ व॒वक्ष॑ तृ॒षुं दू॒तं कृ॑णुते य॒ह्वो अ॒ग्निः । वात॑स्य मे॒ळिं स॑चते नि॒जूर्व॑न्ना॒शुं न वा॑जयते हि॒न्वे अर्वा॑
tṛṣu yadannā tṛṣuṇā vavakṣa tṛṣuṃ dūtaṃ kṛṇute yahvo agniḥ vātasya meḷiṃ sacate nijūrvannāśuṃ na vājayate hinve arvā
What food the thirsty one drinks when parched, Agni makes that messenger of thirst. The wind gathers its flock; it does not compel the eater—he seeks the oblation.
When quickly, with rapid (radiance), he has carried off his food, the mighty Agni makes (himself) the fleet messenger (of the worshipper); consuming (the fuel), he allies himself with the force of the wind, and as (a horseman) urges his fast steed, so the rapid going Agni, invigorates and urges (his flames).
When he hath borne off food with swift flame swiftly, strong Agni makes himself a speedy envoy, Follows the rustling of the wind, consuming, and courser-like, speeds, drives the swift horse onward.
