स॒मु॒द्रादू॒र्मिर्मधु॑मा॒ँ उदा॑र॒दुपां॒शुना॒ सम॑मृत॒त्वमा॑नट् । घृ॒तस्य॒ नाम॒ गुह्यं॒ यदस्ति॑ जि॒ह्वा दे॒वाना॑म॒मृत॑स्य॒ नाभिः॑
samudrādūrmirmadhumām̐ udāradupāṃśunā samamṛtatvamānaṭ ghṛtasya nāma guhyaṃ yadasti jihvā devānāmamṛtasya nābhiḥ
Like the sea’s foam is the abundant sweet (of butter) swelling into rivers; the secret name of ghee is what the tongues of the gods know—its navel.
The sweet water swells up from the firmament; by the (solar) ray (man) obtains immortality; that which is he secret name of clarified butter is the tongue of the gods, the navel of ambrosia.
FORTH from the ocean sprang the wave of sweetness: together with the stalk it turned to Amrta, That which is holy oil's mysterious title: but the Gods' tongue is truly Amrta's centre.
