tā vāṃ dhiyo'vase vājayantīrājiṃ na jagmuryuvayūḥ sudānū śriye na gāva upa somamasthurindraṃ giro varuṇaṃ me manīṣāḥ
May your minds, waxing, stir up the wide kingly might; the youthful generous ones did not grasp the bestowers. For wealth do not place Soma; let Indra, Varuṇa, be firm in my speech and thoughts.
Liberal givers, those (our) praises soliciting (abundant) food have proceeded to you for (your) protection; longing for you as (soldiers long) for battle, and as cattle approach the Soma for (its) advantage, so my heartfelt hymns (approach) Indra and Varuṇa.
Showing their strength, these hymns for grace, Free-givers I have gone to you, devoted, as to battle. For glory have they gone, as milk to Soma, to Indra-Varuna my thoughts and praises.
