The Maruts sent forth the winged falcon like an offering; he, bearing the oblation, spread it with sacred smoke. What the swift-winged brought with the libation they filled—sacrificial food accepted by the gods for men.
May this bird, Maruts, be pre-eminent over (other) hawks, since with a wheelless car the swift-winged bore the Soma, accepted by the gods, to Manu.
Before all birds be ranked this Bird, O Maruts; supreme of falcons be this fleet-winged Falcon, Because, strong- pinioned, with no car to bear him, he brought to Manu the Godloved oblation.
