avāsṛjanta jivrayo na devā bhuvaḥ samrāḷindra satyayoniḥ ahannahiṃ pariśayānamarṇaḥ pra vartanīrarado viśvadhenāḥ
They released life-giving waters; the gods did not remain on earth—Soma-born Indra, source of truth. From day to day the rivers flowed, the streams turned back, the waters went forth by the strength of all.
As elders (send forth their young), so the gods have sent you (against Vṛtra); thence you became, Indra who is the abode of truth, the soverign of the world; you have slain the slumbering Ahi for (the release of) the water and have marked out (the channels of) all the delighting rivers.
The Gods, as worn witheld, relaxed their efforts: thou, Indra, born of truth, wast Sovran Ruler. Thou slewest Ahi who besieged the waters, and duggest out their all-supporting channels.
