Shakra measured out all men and waters; the wise one apportioned the streams with friendly, unconstrained desires. With words that cleave rocks they rushed, leading the herd of cows and driving the cattle away.
Knowing all things profitable for men, Śakra has, with his willing friends (the Maruts), sent forth the waters, for they, with (loud) shouts, divided the clouds, and, desiring (to fulfil) their office, set open the pasturage of the cows (of the Aṅgirasas).
Sakra who knoweth well all human actions hath with his eager Friends let loose the waters. They with their songs cleft e'en the mountain open and willingly disclosed the stall of cattle.
