पाति॑ प्रि॒यं रि॒पो अग्रं॑ प॒दं वेः पाति॑ य॒ह्वश्चर॑णं॒ सूर्य॑स्य । पाति॒ नाभा॑ स॒प्तशी॑र्षाणम॒ग्निः पाति॑ दे॒वाना॑मुप॒माद॑मृ॒ष्वः
pāti priyaṃ ripo agraṃ padaṃ veḥ pāti yahvaścaraṇaṃ sūryasya pāti nābhā saptaśīrṣāṇamagniḥ pāti devānāmupamādamṛṣvaḥ
He guards the beloved, the foremost of foes blocks the path; he guards the chant, the course of the sun. He guards the navel, the seven-headed, the fire guards the gods like the immortal cows.
The graceful (Agni) protects the primary station of the moving earth; mighty, he protects the path of the sun; he protects the seven-headed (troop of the Maruts) in the centre between heaven and earth; he protects the exhilarating (oblations) of the gods.
The Earth's, the Bird's dear lofty place he guardeth, he guardeth in his might the course of Surya, Guardeth the Seven-headed in the centre, guardeth sublime the Deities enjoyment.
