य॒मा चि॒दत्र॑ यम॒सूर॑सूत जि॒ह्वाया॒ अग्रं॒ पत॒दा ह्यस्था॑त् । वपूं॑षि जा॒ता मि॑थु॒ना स॑चेते तमो॒हना॒ तपु॑षो बु॒ध्न एता॑
yamā cidatra yamasūrasūta jihvāyā agraṃ patadā hyasthāt vapūṃṣi jātā mithunā sacete tamohanā tapuṣo budhna etā
When death took the tongue’s forward part, Yama the son of Dawn stood at the first course. Born among men in pairs, the vigorous ones held fast; these stedfast ones endured austerity and upheld the rite.
The parent of twins (the dawn), has brought forth the twin (Aśvins) on this occasion, (in the praise of whom) the tip of my tongue remains tremulous; they two, the dispersers of darkness, combine, assuming bodies as a pair (of twins) at the origin of the day.
The Mother of the Twins hath borne Twin Children: my tongue's tip raised itself and rested silent. Killing the darkness at the light's foundation, the Couple newly born attain their beauty.
