असू॑त॒ पूर्वो॑ वृष॒भो ज्याया॑नि॒मा अ॑स्य शु॒रुधः॑ सन्ति पू॒र्वीः । दिवो॑ नपाता वि॒दथ॑स्य धी॒भिः क्ष॒त्रं रा॑जाना प्र॒दिवो॑ दधाथे
asūta pūrvo vṛṣabho jyāyānimā asya śurudhaḥ santi pūrvīḥ divo napātā vidathasya dhībhiḥ kṣatraṃ rājānā pradivo dadhāthe
The former bulls were seeded, greater than these; their brave offspring are foremost. The heavenly steeds of Vidatha, with sages’ thoughts, set the realm: kings gave the skies by their wise powers.
The showerer (of benefits), the preceder and elder (of the gods), genitive rated (the waters); they are the abundant allayers of his thirst; sovereign Indra and Varuṇa, grandsons of heaven, you possess the wealth (that is to be acquired) by the rites of the splendid sacrifice.
First the more ancient Bull engendered offspring; these are his many draughts that lent him vigour. From days of old ye Kings, two Sons of Heaven, by hymns of sacrifice have won dominion.
